Study programs and syllabuses

Students of the second degree program in graphic design and multimedia art will receive a thorough theoretical and practical knowledge of both selected areas of application of computer techniques and graphics.

The subjects proposed in the curriculum include elements from such fields as multimedia graphics, motion graphics, computer game graphics, UX/UI design, Game Design Theory, Artificial Intelligence in imaging. Theoretical and practical knowledge is supplemented with practical skills acquired in specialized laboratories.

In the field of fine arts and design in the area of graphic arts, great importance is attached to providing students with a thorough knowledge that allows them to undertake independent creative activities, so students will expand their knowledge and skills in drawing and composition, painting and expressive forms, graphic design, printmaking, alternative design, photography, publishing graphics and advertising art.

Second-degree studies in graphic design and multimedia art at the Faculty of New Media Art in Gdansk are conducted on a full-time (daytime) basis.


Rules of the Diploma Examination at WSNM.

The thesis defense should take place after three semesters of study at the Faculty of New Media Arts. The master's thesis consists of two integral parts: practical and theoretical. The principles and topics of the thesis should be consulted on an ongoing basis with the promoters: main, technical and theoretical. The date of defense and other important deadlines are set at the beginning of a given academic year (both July and September schedule).

Admission to the defense is conditional on:
● discharge - obtaining a certain number of credits and fulfilling other requirements stipulated in the entire program of studies
● positive acceptance of the written work by the anti-plagiarism system
● positive opinion of all promoters
● presentation of the completed design or artistic work.


Stage 1

Defense admission.


On admission, the student presents a fully completed thesis.


The admission body consists of: The Dean of the Faculty of New Media Art in Gdansk, the main promoter, the technical promoter, the theoretical promoter and the reviewer. If the Dean is the promoter, the admission body consists of the three promoters listed.


Stage 2

Once the thesis is accepted for defense:

I. Students send a set of information to the main promoter in order for the promoter to create a thesis in the university's electronic system (gakko.pja.edu.pl). For this purpose, the diploma student provides to the main promoter:

  1. completed diploma thesis (practical and written) with titles of both parts in Polish and English according to the following model:
    Title of practical thesis in Polish. Title of written work in Polish
    Title of practical work in English. Title of written work in English
  2. The composition of the promoter team (title, name and surname):
  • lead promoter
  • technical promoter
  • thesis supervisor
  • Thesis reviewer (appointed by the main promoter)

II. The student shall complete the following information on his/her own in the university's electronic system gakko.pja.edu.pl:

  1. granting or not granting permission to post the thesis in the Thesis Repository;
  2. Declaration of the type of copies issued free of charge to the graduate. The university issues 3 sets of documents (diploma and supplement) for the student free of charge.
    IMPORTANT: The decision to post the thesis in the PJATK repository can be expressed only once and cannot be reversed.
    IMPORTANT: The decision on the number of diplomas received can be changed until the decision of the main promoter to allow the thesis to be defended is determined.
  3. The lead promoter posts the work in the GAKKO electronic system.

Stage 3

Student:

  1. sends the finished thesis (practical and written) to the designated reviewer
  2. rips the thesis (disc copy) to disk https://snmpja.edu.pl/poradnik-dyplomowy-pl/
  3. submits all required documents to the Dean's Office


SET OF DOCUMENTS:

  • 1 printed and bound copy of the written (theoretical) thesis. The thesis should have a hardcover binding in subdued color. The thesis can be printed on one or two sides - the decision is up to the Author. The cover should bear the title of the thesis, e.g.: THESIS.
  • 2 discs (CD or DVD media) with the recorded entire thesis (practical and written work) in PDF, DOC, DOCX, ODT format (it is recommended to include at least two different formats). The discs should contain the content of the entire thesis including additional applications.
    The discs MUST BE SIGNED BY THREE PROMOTERS (MASTER, TECHNICAL, WRITTEN WORK).
    IMPORTANT: The discs should be signed with the student's name, surname, number and placed in paper envelopes. Of which one disc from the paper envelope should be affixed to the inside of the thesis binding.
  • statement of the student about the independent writing of the thesis
  • Student's statement on making the work public on the Internet

Stage 4

Reviews
The lead promoter, technical promoter, theoretical promoter, and reviewer post a written review in the GAKKO electronic system.

Circulation
The dean's office launches circulation provided the following conditions are met:

  1. the lead promoter marked the last point in the electronic system, i.e., "The promoter's decision on admission to the defense."
  2. The electronic system contains all SIGNED reviews.
  3. No later than 3 days before the defense, the Secretariat sends lists of those admitted to the defense. Information about the prepared diploma (and/or a copy in English) will appear on the student's profile, after logging into GAKKO in the Dean's Office/Course of Study/Documents tab.


SEPTEMBERDEFENSES
Students will be required to apply through the application system for a defense in September. The application must be accompanied by approvals from three supervisors along with information on the progress of the practical and written work. The date for September defenses and other important dates will be announced at the beginning of the academic year.
