May academic meetings as part of the "Talented in Pomerania" Project
Art meets technology: PJATK is the Main Partner of the exhibition "The Light of Gdynia. Photographs by Bolesława and Edmund Zdanowski 1945-1970" on the 100th anniversary of the city.
We are delighted to announce that the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology has become the Main Partner of a new temporary exhibition at theMuseum of the City of Gdynia entitled "The Light of Gdynia. Photographs by Bolesława and Edmund Zdanowski 1945–1970." This exhibition is special in that it opens a series of events celebrating the 100th anniversary of Gdynia being granted city rights, offering a sentimental journey through the post-war history of the "city of the sea and dreams."
Our involvement in this project is more than just patronage—it is the practical implementation of the idea of combining art with modern technology. As a technology partner, PJATK brings digital expertise to the museum space, allowing post-war photography to be viewed through the prism of contemporary visual tools. This collaboration proves that historical heritage and IT innovations are complementary areas that together create a new quality in the experience of culture.
Dr. Leszek Żurek, lecturer in Graphic Arts (Faculty of New Media Arts) at PJATK Gdańsk, played a special role in shaping the exhibition. As co-curator, Dr. Żurek used his artistic and academic experience to give the curatorial vision theoretical and aesthetic depth. His expert knowledge of photography, psychophysiology of vision, and the conscious use of AI tools allowed him to create a narrative that brings out the most valuable aspects of the Zdanowski photographs—the unique interplay of light and emotion.
The exhibition presents Gdynia from 1945 to 1970—a city reborn, full of light and optimism, captured in the frames of masters of Polish photography.
The exhibition will run until January 10, 2027.
We invite all students, employees, and enthusiasts of history and technology tothe opening, which will take place at the Museum of the City of Gdynia (ul. Zawiszy Czarnego 1) on Saturday, February 7, at 6:00 p.m.
The next curator-led tours with Dr. Leszek Żurek, during which he will talk about the background to the exhibition, the selection process, and how modern technologies support historical narrative, will take place onSunday, February 8, and Tuesday, February 10 —on Gdynia's 100th birthday!
