Report from the Girls Do Engineering Gala
Jan Jedlinski, M.Sc., was a graduate of the Electrical Faculty of the Warsaw University of Technology. In 1971, he defended his master's degree in electrical engineering, specializing in electrical apparatuses. In 1973, he obtained a construction license in the construction of all types of electrical installations and equipment for general construction. In 1978, he completed postgraduate studies in the Economics of Production Organization and Ergonomics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Technology at Warsaw University of Technology. Since graduation, he has been active in the SAWE Electrical Faculty Alumni Association and the SEP Association of Polish Electrical Engineers.
He began his professional life at Elektromontaż, a company that manufactures and installs electrical installations in industrial and general construction. There, from 1971 to 1985, he worked his way up from commissioning engineer to work group manager. From 1985 to 1991, he was contract manager of Elektromontaż-Export in Germany, where he supervised the work of several hundred designers and fitters. After returning from Germany in 1991-1994, he was Chief Export Specialist at Elektromontaż-Warsaw, where he managed construction sites carried out in cooperation with the Austrian company ELIN. From 1994 to 2001, he was director of the Polish branch of the German electrical installation company OBO Bettermann.
He became Administrative Director in 2001 and Vice Chancellor of the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in 2008. He oversaw the work of many of the University's administrative units and investment works, culminating in the construction of PJATK's new teaching building in 2020. His most recent success was the opening of PJATK's new headquarters at the Gdansk Branch. Both of these investments, as well as many others, would not have come to fruition without his knowledge and commitment. He was an invaluable organizer of the entire life of the University.
In 2014, he received a diploma of appreciation from the Marshal on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of PJATK for his contribution and commitment to the development of the University. In 2019, he received a commendation from the Rector on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of PJATK for outstanding contributions and a lifetime of service to the University. In 2023, he was awarded the Electrical Faculty 100th Anniversary Medal for distinguished activists of the SAWE Electrical Faculty Alumni Association.
The director, for that is what everyone titled him, was for many a teacher, a mentor, an advisor. He was an unwavering pillar and never failed. He enjoyed the great respect of the entire academic community of the University. He will be remembered as a sincere, concrete and extremely loyal man. Attentive to others and respected by all.
We will miss you very much....
