On Saturday, October 1, an event will be held under the banner of Long Live Science!, i.e. the grand opening of the academic year with the participation of Gdansk universities and representatives of local authorities. A march down Dluga Street, the reading of the Gdansk Manifesto of Science and a ceremonial meeting of the Senates and Faculty Councils of Gdansk universities at the European Solidarity Center are planned.
And all in a beautiful setting accompanied by carillons, musicians, acrobats. We invite the academic community of our University! Come with your friends

The ceremonies marking the opening of the 2022/2023 academic year in Gdansk will begin at noon, when a march will set off from under the Golden Gate with the participation of the authorities and Senates of more than a dozen higher education institutions in Gdansk, representatives of local authorities and students. Among the participants will also be the figure of Daniel Fahrenheit, musicians and acrobats. It will be possible to hear the academic song Gaudeamus igitur performed on a carillon.
The parade will culminate with the reading of the Gdansk Science Manifesto at the Main City Hall.
Anyone can take part in the parade. The whole academic community of our University, families and friends are cordially invited to participate!
The idea and host of the opening ceremony of the year is the Association of Fahrenheit Universities, which brings together the Medical University of Gdansk, Gdansk University of Technology and the University of Gdansk.
- The "Long Live Science!" event will be unique in the whole country, says Prof. Marcin Gruchała, chairman of the Association of Fahrenheit Universities, rector of the Medical University of Gdansk. - We want to show that Gdansk is a strong academic center and a city of science. We want this day to be a joyful manifestation of the unity of the academic community, which is why we have invited all Gdansk universities to take part in the celebration.
Inspirational lecture for scientists
The second part of the celebration will be a ceremonial meeting of the Senates and Faculty Councils of Gdansk universities at the European Solidarity Center in Gdansk. It will begin with a short concert by the choirs of the Fahrenheit Universities, who will sing together the anthem Gaudeamus Igitur. The event will culminate with a lecture by Professor Szymon Malinowski Climate Crisis, Planetary Crisis. Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, Mayor of Gdansk, Wieslaw Byczkowski, Deputy Marshall of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, among others, have confirmed their presence at the event.
On behalf of our university, the event will be attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, Dean of the Faculty of New Media Arts, representatives of the academic and administrative staff and the Student Government.
The entire University community is invited to take part in the march down Dluga Street.
