PJATK, together with partners from Poland, Finland, Bulgaria, and Cyprus, presents a course titled: Media Education: Countering Disinformation and Debunking. It was developed as part of the European project Infotester4Education. It will include both a theoretical component and a practical component based on workshops and group exercises. The sessions will cover the most important issues related to countering disinformation, such as:

  • Basic definitions and mechanisms of disinformation;
  • An Introduction to Fact-Checking;
  • An overview of cognitive biases and the sociological foundations of belief in misinformation;
  • An overview of the most common manipulation techniques;
  • An analysis of the ethical and legal issues related to combating disinformation;
  • Modern Methods for Fostering Critical Thinking.

The course is open to all PJATK students, regardless of their major or year of study. It will be taught in both English and Polish. It consists of 30 instructional hours and will run throughout the winter semester, once a week online. Upon completion of the course, students will receive an official diploma and be awarded an additional 5 ECTS credits. These credits will not count toward semester or academic year requirements; rather, they constitute an additional pool of credits that will be listed on the diploma of graduation.

Classes in Polish will be held on Wednesdaysfrom 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The first class will be on October 7, 2026, and the last class will be on January 27, 2027.

Classes in English will be held on Fridaysfrom 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The first class will be on October 9, 2026, and the last class will be on January 29, 2027.

Registration is done via the form. Space is limited. The deadline for registration is October 5, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
