"Wrap the Museum" – a new exhibition at the intersection of Gdynia modernism and Japanese aesthetics!

This coming Friday 📆 (July 17) at 6:00 p.m., we invite you to the grand opening of the exhibition “Pack the Museum – Young Design from PJATK Gdańsk” at the Gdynia City Museum!
The exhibition is yet another unique result of the collaboration between our university and the Gdynia Museum, which is both a partner and the initiator of the entire project.

🏢What is this project about?

Graphic Design students at PJATK Gdańsk took on a major design challenge. They created dozens of unique wrapping paper designs inspired by Gdynia’s identity—its history, architecture, and unique atmosphere. In these original designs, you’ll find modernist corsets, iconic porthole windows, ocean waves, and even motifs inspired by the works of Kazimierz Ostrowski! We literally “wrapped” one of the museum’s galleries in these amazing motifs.🌸

⛩Japanese Opening Weekend (July 17–19)—Given PJATK’s Polish-Japanese character, the opening weekend will be filled with a wave of Asian touches:
🚚 Food Zone on the Museum Steps: From Friday through Sunday, join us at the iconic Yaki Kingu food truck for authentic Japanese street food flavors!
🗣️ Lecture on Japanese culture: On Saturday (July 18) at 4:00 p.m., Daniel Gajewski will lead a talk titled “Japanese Etiquette According to Yaki Kingu.” You’ll learn more about everyday customs in the Land of the Rising Sun.
🎌 Interactive exhibition: On-site, you’ll see designs presented like Japanese scrolls, create your own artwork using stamps, and fold origami!

Spend the weekend enjoying contemporary design and delicious food. See you on the steps of the Gdynia City Museum! 🌊🍣
