Open House on June 24!
Magic, manga, and modern technology. That's how we celebrated the 3rd Japanese Festival!
Last Saturday, June 13, the Gdańsk branch of the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology became the vibrant heart of Japanese culture. The 3rd editionof the Japanese Festivalattracted crowds of enthusiasts, Tri-City residents, and prospective students. This year’s theme was the fascinating world of spirits and magical creatures, which perfectly blended ancient tradition with the modern pop culture of the Land of the Rising Sun.
The festival program was packed with a variety of attractions tailored to every age group. The official opening in the auditorium kicked off with an intriguing lecturetitled “Applied Manga Studies: Why Do We Actually Need to Study Manga?”, which drew a large audience and launched a series offascinating talks. At the same time, in the lecture halls, participants could hone their skills duringhands-on art workshops. The entertainment zoneswere extremely popular—fans of competition tested their skills in both traditional board games and modern video games straight from Tokyo’sAkihabara district. Spectacular demonstrations of traditional Japanese martial arts also provided plenty of excitement. Hungry festivalgoers were treated to iconic Japanese dishes, such as okonomiyaki fromYaki King.
