Last Sunday, the Gdynia City Museum hosted a collage workshop in connection with the exhibition “The Light of Gdynia: Photographs by Bolesława and Edmund Zdanowski, 1945–1970” 📷

In this age of computers, digital graphics software, and AI generators, the analog collage workshop was a fantastic opportunity to work with hands-on techniques! ✂️📰 The theme of the workshop was the city 🏙️

The participants worked with photographic materials as well as colored, patterned, and textured papers. Their main tools were scissors, glue, and, of course, their boundless imagination💡

The workshops were also guided by the idea that 🌱 upcycling: flyers and posters from previous events were reused.

The works created were a blend of individual perspectives on the city, its history, and its symbolism 🚢

The workshop was led by Marta Marszałek, a lecturer at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk and a graduate of the Department of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. She received her diploma with honors in 2012. At PJATK, she has been teaching Narrative Graphics since 2013 and Narration Through Images since 2019. She is passionate about illustration, its history, and its creators. She collects illustrated books and albums. She creates and exhibits painted illustrations. She received the Andrzej Tomiałojć Award in the Satyrykon 2012 competition.
