May academic meetings as part of the "Talented in Pomerania" Project
We’ve just wrapped up a unique international event dedicated to typography! On March 16 and 17, we hosted world-class typeface designers from the TypeTogether studio at PJATK Gdańsk.
Our guests were:
♦️ Jose Scaglione – co-founder of TypeTogether
♦️ Patrycja Walczak – typeface designer
♦️ Dr. Monika Marek-Łucka – typographer and lecturer at PJATK
During the open lectures, participants had the opportunity to view typography from a broader perspective—not merely as a design tool, but also as a cultural and research tool. We discussed the power of the letter, multiscripte design, and the challenges posed by the global context of visual communication.
The next day, the graphic design students took part in analog workshops, returning to the basics of design—pencil, paper, and the deliberate construction of letterforms.
We would like to thank all our guests for their inspiring presentations, and the participants for attending and creating such a great atmosphere!
This is yet another example of how important it is to combine tradition with modernity in design education.
