Report from the Girls Do Engineering Gala
Artist Masaaki Ohya will give a lecture this Tuesday, March 4, to students of Graphic Arts at the Faculty of New Media Arts at PJATK Gdansk. He will talk about the artist's work in Japan and present his works from the "Secrets of Nature" exhibition.
At the same time, we invite you to the opening of the exhibition "Secrets of Nature" on Saturday, March 1, at 17:00 at the National Museum in Gdansk - Department of Modern Art, Abbots' Palace, 18 Cistercians Street.
The exhibition will feature seventy prints created over the past two decades. The four cycles show the dominant topoi in the artist's work: Nature and the cycle of Life and Death - people, animals and plants. The eternal cycle of birth, the slow but inevitable passage of time, has always been an object of interest for the artist. Masaaki Ohya believes that every life has a destiny in the Universe, which no one knows - this is the secret of every person, animal, plant.
The artist creates works using the intaglio method (etching, aquatint, mezzotint, dry needle), finding motifs in natural forms, shapes and phenomena. Their interpenetration determines the strength of the message, which makes his prints peculiar philosophical treatises.
The works presented in Gdansk come from the artist's studio.
