Report from the Girls Do Engineering Gala
Already in June will be held the third edition, environmental-technology hackathon Hack4Change - a programming marathon, in which more than 150 participants, under the guidance of experts (representatives of the IT industry, business and science), will face the problems of the modern world.
The organizers of the event are CODE:ME Foundation and Marek Kaminski Academy. This year's hackathon will be held in a stationary form in Gdansk, at the Gdansk Science and Technology Park, on 02-04.06.2023. As a university, PJATK Gdansk is a content partner of the event.
Why a hackathon?
Hackathon, is a form of event that fosters a collaborative search for solutions to very real problems! Participants with different backgrounds come together for 48h in a friendly environment with fair competition to bring their ideas to life.
For whom:
Innovators, programmers, graphic designers, UX designers, sociologists, psychologists, marketers and everyone who is close to the idea of fighting the climate crisis and other problems of our planet are invited to participate in the event. There will be a group of mentors at the disposal of the participants - experts from various fields of technology, science and business, whose knowledge and experience they will be able to benefit from.
Problem area:
Senseless consumerism (waste of food, uncontrolled production of goods), economic problems (lack of stability and prosperity), climate change, political instability in the world - these are just some of the problems facing the world today. The goal of the organized hackathon is to create innovative projects, tools or applications that can affect the quality of our lives - if only locally.
This year, the organizers have set three main problems and competition tracks:
The entire hackathon will be preceded by a technology workshop that will help introduce participants to the hackathon's problem areas. In addition, the organizers plan to organize a canoe trip, combined with cleaning up the river and the area around the canoe trip.
