Report from the Girls Do Engineering Gala
PJATK Gdansk is the official partner of Hackerspace Game Jam 2023. The event will take place over the weekend of February 3-5 and will bring together game development enthusiasts.
The celebration of game development that is Hackjam - Hackerspace Game Jam returns again to the Tri-City in a stationary version. After a 2-year break, when the entire community had to move to the virtual world, we will again have the opportunity to meet in one space and create games together during the 48h marathon.
The Hackathon with global game development during a single, worldwide shared deadline has a long tradition. The first edition was held in 2009. After a dozen years, the event brings together nearly 700 organizers in 100 countries around the world. More than 33,000 people join the fun at any one time. Tri-City, with the participation of the CODE:ME Foundation and Hackerspace Tri-City, has also made a significant contribution here.

After the difficult time of the pandemic, we can meet again and enjoy not only the creation of games, but also the fun of playing together, the opportunity to meet and talk with living people. This year the organizers have also prepared a few surprises, so it won't be a classic repeat of previous events. As standard, there will be workshops to prepare for the event, which will take place in the week preceding the hackathon, but in addition there will be mentors and special prizes, including, we can say, one special one.
"We have been involved in game development for many years. We are a publicly traded company. Now we want to give something from ourselves AND support those who perhaps are just at the beginning of their adventure in game development and do not yet have the capacity and resources to release it themselves . By joining the Hackjam we want to support the participants with our experts, among other things. However, we also have a special prize - we are ready to choose one of the projects that we will help develop and release a game," - says Zbigniew Debicki, CEO of Forever Entertainment / Forever Seed Fund
So who can take part in the event? The organizers assure that there are no restrictions here. Beginners who want to try creating their own game for the first time are welcome, but also those who are already veterans of game jams and want to create a processional game. Graphic designers, programmers, music creators or game designers will find themselves very much at home at the event.
Teams will form games after matching in groups of 5. The event is open to those who already have their own teams, as well as those who will team up with the support of the organizers.
"For us, this will be another Game Jam that we will support. A special one, because after such a long break. We want to be where important game-dev events are happening and Hackjam is just such a place. It's a great community of game developers with a unique atmosphere. As participants ourselves, we have taken part in it many times, now we want, as a company for whom producing and publishing mobile games is an everyday thing, to encourage others and be able to give them something from ourselves, i.e. our expertise. And as a sponsor some pizza, because great minds need a lot of energy to be creative!" says Maja Kryzhan of BoomBit
The event will be held on 3-5.02.2023 at the Gdansk Science and Technology Park, 3 Lipa St., and is covered by a symbolic fee of PLN 40, which will be entirely donated to catering and prizes for participants.
